Every single desktop or notebook or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program that communicates with the computer hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, and any apps that are installed on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, every single app runs within the parameters defined by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This is valid for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. In case a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, which means that you will be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server packages feature three Linux releases that you may select from for the Operating System of your new hosting server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being absolutely free, the OSs are extremely stable and secure and the key reason to offer all three of them is to make sure that you can run every application that you would like, because different pieces of software may have different requirements for the environment they can be used on. Each one of the three OSs is supported by a huge community of web developers who have generated a large number of software packages that you can set up and use on your VPS. Depending on the Operating System that you select, you will also be able to select between three different Control Panels to handle your web hosting content. Needless to say, should you decide that you need a different OS, we can always reinstall the server with it. As a paid upgrade, we also offer weekly updates of the OS for max stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server packages - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they're 100 % free and they won't increase the price of your new web server, but also because they are exceptionally stable and secure. Each of them is supported by a big community of developers, so you will be able to choose from a large number software packages that you can install on your server if the app that you intend to work with has specific requirements. The Operating System will also determine what internet hosting Control Panel you can use because the Control Panels that we offer run on particular OSs only and since we would like to give you as much freedom as possible, we offer multiple OSs and multiple Control Panels. In case you get a server with a certain Operating System, we could change it upon request in case it turns out that you'll need another one. We will also keep the OS updated on a weekly basis as a part of our additional Managed Services upgrade.
